ANDREA MACDONALD

Andrea MacDonald is the Founder of Honcha, a marketing and media consultancy providing support across a broad range of disciplines, including advancing and celebrating the role of women serving business and nonprofits. Prior to launching Honcha, Andrea was Founder, President and CEO of MacDonald Media, the leading independent ad agency specializing in Out of Home and Non-Traditional Media. For 22 years, with offices across the country, MacDonald Media created ground-breaking out of home media campaigns for hundreds of well-loved brands, including Nike, AMC Networks, Whole Foods, and Jay Z’s Rocnation. Andrea sold MacDonald Media in 2020.

Andrea has focused her entire advertising career on finding innovative ways to connect brands to consumers in public spaces, beginning with the Outdoor Advertising Association of America and later creating the first out of home media planning team at Ogilvy & Mather, which included pioneering the agency’s earliest forays into sports sponsorships, in-store media and online/digital advertising.

A veteran industry leader and spokesperson, Andrea has served as Member or Chair on the governing boards of many advertising industry organizations, including the OAAA, ARF, MRC and AAAA. She has been a judge for numerous awards on the local and national level, including the OBIEs and EFFIES. She served more than five terms as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Geopath (formerly the Traffic Audit Bureau), the OOH industry’s tri-partite governing body, shepherding the design and development of the OOH Industry’s new ratings system. Andrea has previously served on the Board of Governors for the New York Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies and the National Advertising Review Board. Advertising Age honored Andrea in their very first “Media Maven” issue, and she was presented with the OAAA’s distinguished L. Ray Vahue Award for Marketing Excellence.
